Amanda’s Custom Meat Processing

Amanda’s Custom Meat Processing is a custom butcher shop, that processes beef and wild game. Our business is owned and operated by my husband Brad and I. For now it is just the two of us with two other employees.

Working with the SBDC

This shop has been a dream of ours for a long time. We were always out in our shop planning ways to make our perfect butcher shop. We finally decided to make it happen but we weren’t sure how to start. When I found East Colorado SBDC and heard from Merle Rhoades I was so excited.

Merle helped me get started on a business plan and gave me his contacts to help get a loan. I worked for what seemed like a very long time on my business plan and he always made sure he was available to help. With COVID being in the mix when we got started, it made our meetings hard to make. We got very good at our google hangout meetings! Once he helped me finish my business plan he turned me over to Northeast Colorado Revolving Loan Fund. Once we spoke to Valerie at the Revolving Loan Fund things went incredibly fast!!

We got our loan in no time and the construction begun. We had some pretty big road blocks in the construction of the shop, like damaging winds to our new walls, flooding that destroyed a lot of the new stuff that we had just purchased for the shop, and COVID slowed down our contractors and the supply that we needed to get our jobs done. Even with all the bad things that we went through getting the business off the ground we are so happy to have this business.

Opening Our Doors

Since we opened our doors in October we have been blessed with amazing success. We are booked way out on beef and we are getting tons of wild game. Brad and I couldn’t be happier with the decision we made to start the butcher shop. We hope to get more known in our community and we will continue to learn the ins and outs of this business.

Elaine’s Place

Our goal at Elaine’s Place is to provide fresh traditional meals, making our customers feel like they are eating at their own dining room table all for a reasonable price!

Working with the SBDC

Merle Rhoades at East CO SBDC helped us in obtaining a grant from Morgan County Safe Open. This COVID grant will help keep me in business for at least another year and keep the employees I have employed.

I told Merle I wish I would have met him 10 years ago. I am sure that my business would have been much greater than it is today.

East CO SBDC was amazingly helpful; most Mondays before the pandemic I’d take my 2 year old to meet with Chelsie to talk about building a business plan and what steps I needed to be successful. I reached my goal of having enough clients to leave my job and be full time private practice in October, a year sooner than I had planned. I’m so excited for this opportunity to be my own boss and find more work life balance.

Evans Early Childhood is a Colorado State Licensed childcare center and preschool, serving children ages 6 weeks to 6 years. Located on Colorado’s Eastern Plains in Fort Morgan, Rosie Evans and Brian Evans, a husband and wife team started the company in June 2014, both following careers in teaching.

Orozco's Beginnings

Our professional management team has over 80 years of combined security experience with the knowledge and adaptability to meet our client’s changing security needs. Orozco Security Agency Inc. (O.S.A) is Colorado’s security expert in Latin events (Quinceanera and weddings), as well as, heavy industrial / agricultural.

Our COVID Pivot

Being an event security company, the social distancing that was required during COVID-19, caused the events to be cancelled and work to come to a halt, which was detrimental to the company.

We were assigned Chelsie, who is and was very professional, knowledgeable, and punctual in all her dealings with us. We just want to send a thank you to Chelsie and her SBA Team and East Colorado SBDC , for being there in this exceedingly difficult time during the pandemic.

The SBDC Influence

This team worked extremely hard and made everything very understandable to help get this accomplished in a timely manner. East CO SBDC helped us to understand the disaster financial assistance available at a federal, state, and local level. With all their hard work we have recommended the SBA and East Colorado SBDC to local Latino companies who were experiencing a hard time through the pandemic and let us know they had received positive results due to all the help from the SBA Team and East Colorado SBDC .

Chelsie, East CO SBDC, and the CO SBA Team gave not just my company but many small companies hope that we otherwise would not have had during the pandemic.

We have recommended her and her team and will do so again.
