Meet Our Presenter

MINSUN JI

Minsun Ji (Ph.D.) is the Executive Director of The Rocky Mountain Employee Ownership Center, a nonprofit based in Colorado that helps businesses learn about and convert to employee ownership. She was also a Colorado Governor’s Commissioner on Employee Ownership (FY 2019-2020) and has been actively engaged in labor-cooperative issues as an Executive Committee Member at the Union-Coop Council of the US Federation of Worker Cooperatives (USFWC). She is also engaged in building worker-owned platform cooperatives in different cities in the U.S. and has recently launched The Drivers Cooperative – Denver. A labor-community organizer, activist scholar, and popular educator, she was a research fellow at the Institute for Cooperative Digital Economy at the New School of Social Science and a J. Robert Beyster Employee Ownership Fellow at the School of Management and Labor Relations at Rutgers University.”

LAURIE GANONG JONES

Laurie Ganong Jones is a founding board member of the Colorado Venture Capital Authority serving two terms which included positions as  Chair and Vice Chair.  A serial entrepreneur, she is currently co-founder of Plain Skincare LLC in Sterling CO.  The company develops and markets products under the brand Rideau Organics.  She is a business consultant with East Colorado SBDC, advising small business clients on financial, technology, and strategic planning topics.   Previous investment experience includes Edward Jones Financial Advisor and supporting the IPO team for Sykes Enterprises.  Sykes acquired Jones Technologies, which Laurie co-founded with her husband Dan. They both stayed on with Sykes past the IPO and assisted in efforts to grow Sykes into a global leader in outsourced tech and customer support.  She has a BA in Economics, from the University of CA Davis, and an MBA from Pepperdine Graziadio School of Business.”

Meet our Presenter

Jaydon Rice is a lifetime Southeast CO native who is passionate about nurturing small businesses throughout rural Colorado. Jaydon has been involved in the entrepreneurial and small business communities of Southeast Colorado for many years, including owning her own small businesses, involvement in Youth Entrepreneurship initiatives and Chambers of Commerce, as well as working with several nonprofit organizations. As a disabled working professional, Jaydon is also a staunch advocate of disabled and disadvantaged individuals’ inclusion in the workplace. Since joining the Colorado SBDC Network in 2019, Jaydon has worked in curriculum development, program development and management, workshop/course facilitation, data and internal processes, and business advising. Jaydon specializes in advising focused on business startup and planning, financial forecasting and analysis, tax planning, marketing, strategic planning, strategic partnerships, and nonprofits.

Earned Income Tax Credit for Low Income/ No Income

* Join Colorado SBDC and IRS Stakeholder Liaison, Neki Cox, on EITC Awareness Day to find out!

* You may claim the EITC if your income is low to moderate.

* The amount of your credit may change if you have children, dependents, are disabled or meet other criteria.

* Four out of five eligible taxpayers receive the EITC. This means millions of taxpayers are putting EITC dollars to work for them. However, one in five represent millions of taxpayers are not taking advantage of this valuable credit they’ve earned.

Meet Our Presenter

Neki Cox is a C&L Division Sr. Stakeholder Liaison in Denver. As a stakeholder relationship manager, she has served as a coordinator for IRS seminars, meetings, and multi-speaker engagements. She focuses on developing communication and educational opportunities with tax practitioner, civic, non-profit and for-profit business organizations in Colorado and Nebraska. She has led and coordinated the IRS Disaster Assistance program with FEMA. She leads a cadre team that serve as tax professional data breach dispatchers to Criminal Investigation and other divisions.

Neki began her IRS career in 1995. She has held other positions in the Human Capital Office as a Recruiter and Analyst, in the Taxpayer Advocate Division as a Sr. Taxpayer Advocate, and in the Exam Division as an Office Auditor, Earned Income Credit Coordinator, and an e-File Marketing Specialist. She has prior experience in computer report writing, bookkeeping, collections, purchasing, customer service, sales, and restaurant management. Neki holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Small Business Management with an emphasis in Accounting from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona.
